What is cosmetic tattooing/PMU (permanent make-up)?

Cosmetic tattooing, also referred to as semi-permanent makeup, permanent makeup, micropigmentation, is the process of implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes, makeup, or to enhance the natural features of the face.

SEMI-PERMANENT does NOT mean it will just disappear if you don’t maintain, it means it will fade significantly over time as compared to a normal tattoo. Rarely ever does pigment completely disappear. My style of PMU is so that if you decide to let it be, it will fade softly into the background of your natural face. But all PMU is not created equally, keep this in mind when researching other artists and styles.

I also work MACHINE ONLY, this means professional grade tattoo equipment. No blades or blading/cutting.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COSMETIC TATTOOING AND STANDARD BODY TATTOOING?

The purpose of cosmetic tattooing is to enhance the natural features of a client. Cosmetic tattooing is softer and more subtle – it is meant to be a natural-looking enhancement. Body tattoos use ink while cosmetic tattoo procedures involve pigments. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as client’s natural colouration and facial changes occur.

CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM PREGNANT OR NURSING?

I will not tattoo if you are pregnant. It is a liability to you and your baby. Nursing mothers will have to have consent from a doctor and sign a waiver. “There's no logical reason to not get tattooed or pierced in a reputable, well researched shop. The ink will not transfer to your milk. The greatest concern is infection and statistically, infections occur more from improper aftercare than a reputable shop.”

DOES getting a COSMETIC TATTOO HURT?

I use topical anesthetic cream, gel, and liquid for all procedures, aside from freckles/beauty marks. All people have different experiences and different pain tolerances, but most are very comfortable throughout. Hormones can effect your sensitivity and may increase discomfort, such as breast feeding, menstruation, ovulation, etc. Red heads tend to metabolize anesthetic slower. Some people just have more sensitive skin. I take all of these things into consideration when numbing, and I will tailor your numbing to your needs. **Not following your pre-procedure packet can result in increased sensitivity.

how can i prepare for my appointment?

This answer is a lengthy one and varies for each procedure. Please reach out for the new client info packet, which has a detailed list of how to prepare.

WILL COSMETIC TATTOOING WORK WELL FOR ME?

Permanent makeup can be great for everyone, the key is to picking the right procedure, style, and to achieve that, picking the right artist. There are a lot of factors that come into play when it comes to cosmetic tattoos. Every procedure is different and is effected by varying things. For example, microblading isn’t possible for those who keloid, shaded or winged eyeliner isn’t worth getting if your lids are extremely hooded, and the list goes on and on. That’s what I’m here for! I prescreen extensively for every procedure before you even step foot in my door. Secondly, each and every session begins with a consult. It is a very collaborative process. I will always be open and honest about the reality of your desired outcome, and I will always do whats best for my clients skin and results.
